Who we are

Facebook and Instagram used to be fun. It helped us stay connected to old friends, family. We enjoyed uploading (artistic) photos, chatting with each other, joining groups and pages we were interested in, scrolling through the feed to get glimpses of each other's lives, and relishing a sense of online community. You may say, “but we still have all that now!” and this is true, to an extent.

You know those magazines or newspapers that shrink 80% in size once you remove the promotional material? That’s the state of social media nowadays. The platform isn’t as fun because its intention has changed from content to classifieds.

The team at Skarab has been working in Social Media Management for a long time. We’ve seen the changes, and we’re aware of how businesses have changed their views of the platforms too. Our conclusion is this: Social media is losing value. Although Facebook, Instagram and other platforms are unlikely to disappear, they are certainly losing their value.

Is this an excuse not to have an active and updated social media presence? No. Having the basics running on Social media is more important now than ever, but we emphasise basics. Social media is now a place where most people go to get updates, references, reviews. To ‘look up’ people, interests, and yes - companies.

If a person is considering whether to use your company, it’s beneficial to have active and engaging Facebook/Instagram pages for them to visit. It shows credibility, and the consideration to be there for your online community.

Many companies already know this - that’s why there are roles such as ‘Social Media Manager’ and ‘Digital Marketer’. These roles play an important part in connecting your business to your online community, but require a heavy investment.

Skarab offers quality social media management at an affordable rate. With us, you have the freedom to choose what is feasible for you. We keep your Facebook and Instagram pages alive with captivating posts, and manage your online community.

Your business has a story to tell and something to offer - it’s a shame (and wasted opportunity) if this isn’t being communicated on your social media pages.

At most your Facebook and Instagram pages can be a place for your customers to see, communicate, and connect with your business and at the least, a reference point for them that your business is active and functioning.
